Jezzy is an active, approximately 16h mare in her early teens, we believe she is 12 years old this year. She is the only HBH horse in the more active herd!
We were told by RKER that she was surrendered to them because her owners could not get her sound. She had shoes and pads on when she arrived at RKER, and she seemed very anxious at RKER. We agreed to bring her to HH in spring of 2024 to rehab her barefoot and give her a quieter environment. During her rehab, she became quite anxious in general, out with the herd, in the grain areas, for ground work and for ridden work. We've been dedicating our time to making catching, grooming, ground work and riding all fun things for her. Her confidence has grown tremendously during her rehab and she is now pleasant to ride in the arena and on trails around the property. She has been what I would call serviceably sound barefoot and in light work here (I am NOT a vet, so PPEs are welcome at adopters expense). If she is going to be living and/or working on harder footing, rocky footing, working harder, etc. she will probably need hoof protection! She still demonstrates some anxiety related behaviors when stalled (weaving), so will do best in a turn out living situation.
Jezzy requires a more experienced and confident handler. She has not participated in the lesson program because she has not seemed interested in working with riders early on in learning and can become anxious easily. She calms down quickly with a confident handler who remains calm when she becomes anxious.
Jezzy is not available for the HBH-HH Horsemanship program, but you can schedule a visit to meet her by contacting ari@hbher.org . Jezzy's adoption fee is $1,500.
