Owner Surrenders

Doing what's best is hard sometimes...

Whether you're unable to care for your equine due to life changes, have unexpectedly had the responsibility of an equine fall into your lap, or any other circumstance that makes it difficult for you to continue to care for your equine, we are here to help. We have a profound understanding of the crucial role we play in aiding at-risk horses. We are committed to providing rescued horses with the utmost care, nourishment and professional, welfare-based training. We aim to provide rescued horses with a safe place to recover from their past so that they can move forward into the future.

At the same time, we work hard to educate the community on welfare-based care, handling and training for horses. Ultimately, our rehabilitation and adoption process strives to ensure that these horses find their permanent home, where they can thrive and flourish.

Currently, we have limited availability to take Owner Surrenders. We started right off the bat with so many horses and so many high needs horses, that our resources are struggling to catch up with the horses already in our care. As we adopt out horses, we will have availability to take in more equines. We are well networked with other rescues as well as with the horse community at large and will always do whatever we can to help horses and people in need.

If you would like your equine to be on our wait list, please fill out the form below or email information to ownersurrenders@hbher.org . Please make sure to include your: name, phone number, email, and some information about your situation: why you're looking to surrender, the horse's age, breed, height, training level, etc. There is a $250 Surrender fee.

If you would like to request our help in other ways or have questions about the owner surrender process, please fill out the form below. Some other ways we seek to help the horse community are: helping find appropriate placement for horses, fundraising for veterinary care, assisting financially for feed during hard times, etc.

How can we help you?

Please let us know about your horse and/or what other way we can help you and we'll do our best!
