We are excited to share that we had THREE adoptions in December!

First was Rojo. Rojo was surrendered to Hoofbeat Heroes Equine Rescue in September due to unforeseen circumstances. His previous owner's well had run dry, leaving him unable to care for him. Rojo was a stud and required gelding. He also had pre-existing injuries that raised concerns about his future. However, after his gelding procedure, Rojo demonstrated remarkable progress, becoming sound enough to be considered as a companion horse. As luck would have it, we had received an inquiry seeking a companion horse gelding, and the stars aligned for him to join her and provide companionship for her older gelding. We couldn't be happier for him! Stories like these warm our hearts, and we are so happy when we find new homes for our surrendered horses. This is what it’s all about.

Next was Kit. Kit is a kind mare who landed in the rescue world because of a severely deformed left front pastern. She was very thin (body condition score 3) and was walking on the outside of her twisted hoof. After physical and behavioral assessment at our Hoofbeat Heroes facility, Kit was considered suitable for adoption into a companion home as long as her adopter could clearly ensure their ability to meet Kit's long-term needs regarding companionship and specialized hoof care. We are SO HAPPY to share the news of Kit's successful partnering with just such an adopter! Kit will be living in an enriched environment with other horses and will receive regular hoof care to manage her disability and ensure her comfort. Thank you for supporting Hoofbeat Heroes Equine Rescue, where finding and supporting lasting human-horse partnerships is our mission.

Third was Jezzy. Jezzy came to the rescue world due to soundness issues. We were told that her owners were at a loss after pursuing everything they knew to pursue to investigate and still coming up at a loss so they surrendered her. At HBH, we have rehabilitated her barefoot and she has seemed to do well living out in the herd and in light work. Her journey is ongoing, but her new home loves her very much and is committed to continuing to support her in her journey to feeling as good as she can physically, mentally and emotionally! Her adopter looks forward to doing liberty work and light riding with her.
With these spots now open, we have accepted some new owner surrenders that we anticipate arriving after the holidays. We look forward to sharing with you about them in the new year.
