Big News!
We'd like to formally introduce our first three Sanctuary horses!
When we began in June, we discussed the potential for needing to be the final home for some of the horses that come to us. We've decided that once we've thoroughly assessed a horse, if we feel that they're unlikely to have a successful adoption for health or behavioral reasons, we will strive to provide them Sanctuary here. To do so, we are seeking long term sponsors for the Sanctuary horses. Sponsors can visit their horses to groom them, take them for hand walks, get pictures, etc. If you’re unable to visit, we're happy to send pictures and other small gifts from your sponsored equine! If a business sponsors a horse, we will tag them regularly in posts about their sponsored equine to help spread the word about the good work they're doing in the community.
First, we have the sweet Jewel. Jewel is a late 20s, thoroughbred mare. She came to us quite thin and it's taking time and a lot of food to help her gain weight. We discovered that she has a heart murmur, likely due to age, so she is unridden. Due to that and the large amount of food she requires, we feel it's best for her to remain here for the time she has left. We are looking for a sponsor for Jewel to help cover her costs to remain here.
Next, we have the adorable AJ. AJ is around 24 and is a warmblood. He still seems to enjoy some ridden work, but he has Cushing’s and his teeth are nearly to the point where he will have to live on senior feed as he will no longer be able to process hay. Due to his health condition and the large amount of food he needs, we would like to find a sponsor to help him remain here.
Lastly, we have Peppy. Peppy is around 27 and, though still doing some under saddle work, is definitely slowing down. He and AJ are firmly bonded and we wouldn't feel comfortable separating them. Peppy is lucky enough to currently have a loving sponsor. We're so grateful!
Please spread the word and help us find long term sponsors for our Sanctuary horses so that we can be their final home. Please contact us with any questions you have.
